How do I decide what fabric to send?
First of all, the most important consideration is that you choose fabric/clothing that holds special meaning and significance for you.
Your keepsake will be totally unique and so we advise that you take your time when making your decision.

WHAT FABRIC SHOULD I CHOOSE?
​
Fabric of the same 'weight' (thickness) work well together.
Cotton, denim, wool, corduroy and jersey knitwear are generally good options due to their ease of handling and ability to hold their shape.
Fabrics that are very stretchy or 'slippery' or delicate (silk, lace) can be used, as long as they are matched with fabric of the same weight and a backing material used to stabilise the fabric.

Chiffon is too fragile to be used successfully and loose knit items are too bulky to be cut and sewn successfully.
Leather / leatherette is also too thick to use.
Fur (faux or real) is also not suitable for a keepsake.

WHAT COLOURS SHOULD I CHOOSE?
​
The "rule of three" in any discipline of design states that grouping elements in sets of three creates a more visually appealing, balanced and harmonious composition.
When you are thinking about what fabric to send us, we suggest you think about what colours go well together and compliment each other.
​
A beautiful keepsake can be made using a single piece of clothing, as can a combination of plain and patterned fabric to create a more varied design.

WHAT AN ADORABLE SET OF TRIPLETS!
​
These bears are all made using different combinations of the SAME three pieces of fabric and following the SAME pattern (CALICO small).
​
The use of the stretchy, light pink T-shirt material for the body, head and outer arms and legs of the bear on the right, has produced in a bigger bear, while the floral, cotton dress and purple, cotton shirt (left and middle) have created smaller bears.
​
The three colours (pink, purple, floral print) go well together and extra details from the light pink T-shirt have been added to the bear on the right to provide more interest on the head and right arm.

Small bears are approximately 24 cm / 9” tall.
​
Medium bears are approximately 28 cm / 11" tall.
​
Large bears are approximately 32 cm / 13" tall.
​

The type of fabric you send will effect the size of your finished bear,
as some fabrics are more 'stretchy' than others.

​HOW MANY ITEMS OF CLOTHING SHOULD I SEND?
(to make1 bear of any size)

4 - 5 items of 3 -12 months baby clothes
​
3 - 4 items of 28 - 24 months baby clothes
​​
2-3 items of children's clothing
​​
1-2 items of adult clothing
​
Please make sure items are clean and in good condition. Worn items will effect the quality of the finished bear.

HOW DO I SEND MY ITEMS TO YOU?
Once payment has been received, we will send an envelope with a mailing bag inside to the address on your order form.
Put your items into the mailing bag and return it to us.

Please be aware that the cost for this return process is NOT included in the final price.

CAN YOU EMBROIDER ?
We hand embroider up to 10 letters on your bear at no extra charge. Embroidery is usually placed on the keepsake pocket, unless indicated otherwise on the order form.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE MY BEAR?
Once your items have been received, it will take approximately 6 – 8 weeks to design and craft your bear.
Turnaround is calculated from the date we receive your items, NOT the date you place your order.
