A Bit About Me

I was born and raised in Northern Ireland during the period of unrest known as 'The Troubles'.  Our parents worked hard and taught my brother, sister and I the importance of doing our best. We lived to the north east of Belfast and, despite the conflict in 'the town', our world was happy and secure. Spending summers with my brother, kicking a football in the street, laughing and playing 'kerby' with our Catholic neighbours. Getting the bus to the Grove Baths and the steam train, 'The Portrush Flyer' from Belfast to the seaside.
The magic of counting sparkling trees in the windows at Christmas.
Memories I hold onto fondly.

'The Troubles' cast a long shadow. They left pain and destruction for so many. Scorch marks on the road at the end of our street, where an off duty policeman was killed by a car bomb. The deafening silence after a bomb explosion at the Royal Courts of Justice where I worked. Sifting through rubble to rescue whatever we could.

Life moves on.

I have been married for 32 years. We  have raised two wonderful children, like us in so many ways, yet uniquely themselves.

Our journey took us to S.E. Asia. I was challenged by China, fell in love with Hong Kong and found a home in Thailand.
Each experience, from volunteering in a baby care unit to establishing an orphanage and school, had shaped me.

The Catholic neighbours are still family friends.
Our sister has passed away.

Life moves on.

And now? I am based in the UK and embracing a new season in my life.
This season has a name.
Love Bears All.

'LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS
BELIEVES ALL THINGS
HOPES ALL THINGS
ENDURES ALL THINGS
LOVE NEVER FAILS.'
